Highlights from the August 3 Meeting
Chairman Marion A. was still at the Boy Scout Jamboree but will be at the next meeting. She has been missed.
The group voted to place a $100 ad in the Fall Convention booklet.
Assistance with eyeglasses/screenings for two individuals was approved.
Clarence C. reported $15,229.35 balance. $2,300 was sent to White Cane and $1,000 to the John Woodruff Scholarship.
The Cabinet Meeting in Marion was well attended. Sparta Club received the award for averaging sales of 10 books of car raffle tickets per member. Second was for 4 books/member.
The group voted to make donations to groups who helped with the rodeo: Boy Scouts, Rescue Squad and Fire Department. Larry B. will be contacted about his bill for moving dirt at the fairgrounds to fill in gaps from digging for the mud sling.
The program was presented by a representative from the Red Cross. The club was presented a plaque – Alleghany was number one in reaching the goal.
Several people are on the prayer list: Al B. home from Baptist Hospital but very weak; Agnes J.; Vickie B.’s daughter; Virginia S. had pneumonia.

September 7: Annual picnic -- spouses are invited.
October 29 and 30: Fall Convention in Hickory. Governor’s banquet
will be Saturday the 30th at 4:00 pm
